Dancers Who Sing, Actors Who Sing…This one’s for you!
Group repertoire class is a chance to perform your audition songs, get coached and learn from hearing others. Whether you’re fairly new to singing and need to work those newbie nerves out, or you’ve had more training and performance experience and want to take it to the next level with more ambitious songs or duets, you’ll feel safe, supported, and encouraged in this class.
Please come prepared with book and sheet music of 2 songs each week – 1 brief and 1 16-bar cut, a pencil and note paper. I will accompany on piano and coach. If you have any questions, email or call me in advance. I’ll help you choose. If you haven’t developed a full book yet, or yours needs updating, we will discuss how to do so.
Oh… and we will have fun… it’s just singing!
Kristin Mularz’s Appearance on The View
Loved seeing the clip of Kristin Mularz’s appearance on The View recently, playing a model/host in a mock award sketch. Dan Gutierrez was on a few months ago, in the Welcome Back Barbara segment, looking dapper in a tux, singing and dancing behind Mario Cantone.
“Hello” Lindsey
A huge YAY! to Lindsey Bracco for booking an upcoming regional production of Hello Dolly. She’d barely returned from doing Guys and Dolls in Florida (oh, and thanks for walking in here with a gorgeous tan when we New Yorkers were still stumbling through the endless ice and black slush!) and made a beeline for my studio. 3 lessons and booked her next job – wow!
Congrats to Samantha Zack and Charlie Williams
Can’t wait for opening of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying…2 of my students are in it! Congrats to Samantha Zack and Charlie Williams. Speaking of Sam Z., she has always been diligent about voice lessons, even when she’s doing a show. She was in Wicked for 3 years and made it here whenever her rehearsal and performance schedule allowed. She even goes to open calls sometimes while doing a show, just to make sure her audition skills stay sharp. Great strategy!
“Rock the Audition”
I recently attended a brilliant master class called “Rock The Audition” with Sheri Sanders, which focused on choosing and preparing rock and pop songs for the rock musicals – some say “juke box musicals”. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, they’re here to stay and I want all of my students to be ready for anything. I’ve always made sure my students had plenty of pop songs in their books and we’ve been having a great time incorporating Sheri’s ideas into lessons. This was one of several courses I’ve taken since becoming a member of NYSTA – the New York Singing Teachers Association. Learning isn’t just for students… the best teachers know there’s always more to know!
